Dr. Vasudevamurthy is originally from Marion, Indiana, but moved to the Indianapolis area during high school. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Indiana University and his Doctor of Medicine degree from Ross University School of Medicine.
Dr. Vasudevamurthy completed his internal medicine residency at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He then worked as a hospitalist for two years at Indiana Hemophilia & Thrombosis Center. After completing his oncology and hematology fellowship at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, he decided to move back to Indianapolis to be closer to his family and serve the community where he was raised.
During his residency, Dr. Vasudevamurthy had the opportunity to work with Hematology Oncology of Indiana and Dr. Birhiray, where he observed the lasting patient relationships that Dr. Birhiray had built and realized he wanted to develop what Dr. Birhiray had. With his guidance, he decided to pursue a career in oncology.
Dr. Vasudevamurthy treats all tumor types but has special interests in lung, prostate and pancreatic cancer and hematologic malignancies. While at St. Vincent Hospital, he received multiple Caring Angel awards. He is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology and American Medical Association.
In his spare time, Dr. Vasudevamurthy enjoys spending time with his family. They have an energetic puppy, Chewie, that keeps them busy. He also enjoys basketball, listening to music, exercising and writing.
